Changing lives with the Hope that never changes.

New Name. Same Mission.

As our church continues to grow and reach more people, beyond Werribee, we believe it's time for our name to reflect not only where we're heading but also what we’re already doing. The name Catalyst captures the heart of our church—multiplying hope, transforming lives, and building a stronger community of faith.

While our mission stays the same, this name represents a step forward into a future filled with even more opportunities to share the hope of Jesus!

Why 'Catalyst'?

The word “catalyst” means something that causes change without being changed itself. That’s what we aspire to be as a church—a spark that helps people grow in their faith and experience the love of Jesus, all while staying true to who we are.

By removing barriers and creating opportunities for transformation, Catalyst is committed to changing lives with the Hope that never changes!

Envisioning The Future, Together

This name change isn't about leaving our history behind.
It’s about stepping into a future where our mission remains strong and
our identity better reflects where we are going and who we are reaching.

As Catalyst Baptist Church, our community of faith will continue striving to be
a loving community, seeking, serving and sharing Jesus! Together, we will build
on the foundation we've laid, embracing growth and the opportunities God is bringing.

Our church members voted to change the name on November 18. We will roll out the name change in early 2025 to coincide with the public relaunch of our Bacchus Marsh campus. The change may be gradual as we update different signs, assets, digital properties etc.

We believe the Holy Spirit must be active in drawing people to Jesus and guiding them in their relationship with Him. The name 'Catalyst' doesn’t change that. The name reflects our role as a church, helping create the space for the Spirit to work and change lives with the Hope that never changes!

We developed a Name Change Working Group of diverse ages, backgrounds, long-term members and newer attendees that have met multiple times this year. Their contributions helped guide surveys, timelines that were presented to the core congregation and members, while Ps Stan has preached wider sermons on the topic too. Our church Members have also been guided through this process and attended a dedicated 'town hall' gathering for further discussion and Q&A.
The key difference is that 'Catalyst' allows us to move beyond the geographical limitations of 'Werribee' and better represent our current mission and vision, setting us up for the future to come. We will look at new names for our ministries including Kids & Youth and also how the name change impacts our outreach arm The Bridge and its programs.
We see our campuses being called “Catalyst Baptist Church - Werribee”, “Catalyst Baptist Church - Bacchus Marsh” and “Catalyst Baptist Church - Online”. At this stage we would not use Wyndham due to us then limiting ourselves with future campuses within the Wyndham area.
