Have you ever had to create a resume to land a job? It can be a challenging task to summarize your qualifications and convince potential employers that you're the right fit. But what if your resume claimed that you were God? How would you back up such a bold assertion? In a world filled with claims and counterclaims, we often seek evidence to substantiate such grand statements. Today, let's examine the resume of Jesus and explore whether his claim to be God stands up to scrutiny.
Jesus' journey begins with his words. In John 10:30, he makes an astonishing declaration: "I and the Father are one." Is this a mere claim or something more? His words suggest divinity, but words alone are insufficient to convince.
Jesus didn't just make claims; he backed them up with powerful works. His resume includes teaching, healing the sick, casting out demons, calming storms, and even raising the dead. The evidence of these miraculous works makes it highly probable that his claim to be God holds weight.
Jesus didn't rely solely on his own words and works. Numerous witnesses, including John the Baptist, the Roman officer at the crucifixion, and those who saw him heal and deliver, testified to his divinity. Prophecies foretold his coming, adding to the weight of these claims.
So, what does this mean for us today? If Jesus is indeed God, we must submit to his authority. He has authority over every aspect of life, from the spiritual to the natural. The question is whether he has authority over your life. Have you surrendered to him as Lord and Saviour?
For those who have already made that commitment, it's essential to reflect on whether you're truly submitting to his authority daily. Are you allowing Jesus to shape your beliefs, actions, and decisions?
As we recognize Jesus as God, let us trust his words, allow his works to impact our lives, and be inspired by the witnesses who have proclaimed his divinity. May we embrace the transforming power of this truth and humbly submit to Jesus, our Lord and God.
So, I leave you with this challenge: Are you ready to submit to the authority of Jesus, who claimed to be God? How will you allow his words, works, and witnesses to shape your faith journey today?
