In a significant step forward for both congregations, Werribee Baptist Church is excited to announce that its membership has formally voted to accept the Church Council’s recommendation to adopt Bacchus Marsh Baptist Church as a new campus, contingent on reaching further agreements with the Baptist Union of Victoria (BUV) regarding terms. This decision marks an important milestone in the growth of Werribee Baptist Church as we continue to pursue our vision of seeing Hope Multiplied in our communities.
The conversation around adopting Bacchus Marsh Baptist Church began earlier this year when the BUV and Bacchus Marsh Baptist reached out to Werribee Baptist to explore the possibility of joining forces. Since then, the process has been immersed in prayer, discernment, and thoughtful discussion between leadership teams and church members. After months of collaboration and seeking God’s direction, the Werribee Baptist Church family has embraced this exciting new chapter.
Earlier this year, John Taekema was installed as interim pastor of Bacchus Marsh Baptist Church, alongside an interim leadership team, to help guide the congregation through this transitional period. With the adoption now confirmed, Werribee Baptist Church will continue to support and lead the Bacchus Marsh community through 2024 preparing for a campus launch in early 2025.
“This is a significant moment for both our church and the Bacchus Marsh community,” said Ps Stan, lead pastor of Werribee Baptist Church. “Our vision is to multiply hope across our communities, and this adoption is a direct step towards seeing that vision fulfilled. We’re excited for the opportunities God has placed before us to grow His kingdom in Bacchus Marsh.”
As we move forward, we look ahead with great anticipation and faith, trusting that this new campus will be a beacon of hope and transformation in Bacchus Marsh and beyond. Stay tuned for further updates as we move forward on this journey.
